Patsy Crow King
Patsy Crow King lived the first thirty years of her life in Southern
Arkansas. She graduated from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas with a
BA degree in Education and Psychology. Her MA degree in Education was
from the University of Alabama.

She moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico to teach, She met her future
husband, Bill, who introduced her to the beauty of the Southwest.
Patsy taught elementary school in Arkansas, East Texas and New Mexico
for thirty-one years. After retirement, she began to fulfill a lifetime
dream of writing. She taught Creative Writing at El Paso Community
College in the Senior Adult Program for six years. She is a member and
past-president of the El Paso Writers’ League, where she has received
many 1st place awards in the annual contest. She also won the Lenore
Dils Award several times.
She is a member of the Texas Mountain Trail Writers and is published in
their annual Chaos West of the Pecos. Her story was included in The
Noble Generation, Volume 11. She has been published in other newspapers,
anthologies, and newsletters. Her writing group meets
at the University Presbyterian Church on Resler in El Paso, Texas.
She is a member of the El Paso Historical Society, The American
Association of University Women and Gadsden Educational Retirees who
named her Outstanding Member of the Year for 2006.
Her book, Sadie Orchard, The Time of Her Life, tells the story of a
woman who came to Southwestern New Mexico, during the silver and gold
days. She was a madam, the first woman stagecoach driver in New Mexico,
a philanthropist and was called Belle of the Black Range.
She resides in Anthony, Texas, with her husband, Bill. They have two
children, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
